Officers and Directors Report
The officers and directors met on August 13, 2019 to discuss chapter activities and projects. The fall chapter picnic will be September 3, 2019 at the Tannery Dam. Please bring a covered dish. We will start to eat at 6 pm. The annual chapter meeting and election of officers will be October 15, 2019. See below for more details. The 2020 Flyting Roundtable will start on January 2, 2020 at Penn State DuBois – Mary Smeal Building and will run each Thursday for six weeks.
Additionally, via an email vote in June, the board approved a donation of $3,000 to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for a passive acid mine drainage treatment facility to be installed on Cherry Run in Elk County. The total project cost is $750,000. This project will improve the water quality in both Cherry Run and the Bennett Branch. Eli Long of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy will provide a presentation on the project to the chapter at the October 15 meeting.
Annual Meeting
The AMCTU annual meeting and election of officers is October 15, 2019 at Penn State DuBois – Mary Smeal Building. The meeting will start at 7 pm. Nominations for officers are:
President: Codey Schlemmer
Vice President: Matt Marusiak
Secretary-Treasurer: George Kutskel
In addition to the officer nominations, there are two board of director positions open. If you have interest in any of these positions or making other nominations, please contact Joe Buterbaugh. Nominations also can be taken from the floor prior to the election.
Eli Long, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Watershed Manager, will provide the program for the October meeting. He will give a presentation on the Cherry Run acid mine drainage remediation project near the village of Force in Elk County.
